The M is for married and the other line would be the mark made by the enumerator |

It is on the 1901 census, the search was for henry tully born 1900 in liverpool lancashire. |

If he was not at home on the night of the census then he would show up at another address or if he was in one of the armed forces or merchant navy he may be overseas |
