on the 1851 census I 'think' I've finally found my ancestor, but where it says 'where born' its listed as Stafford, Norridge? Any ideas where this could be? its HO107/2144 folio 110 pg 8 John Sherreatt if anyone can help. |

If he's the one I'm looking at, the name was transcribed John Shurreull but original could be Sharreatt or Shurreutt. The transcriber has also added a Silas Shurreull but he's actually Titus Lea. Birthplace is Norridge, Staffs, transcribed Norredge. |

Margaret, yes thats the one. I have him in the 1841 census at Kirk Langley - name John Sherratt living with his wife Ellen. In 1851 Ellen is on her own in Kirk Langley but says she's a labourers wife so I think this is him- I've looked at all the Johns in Derbyshire who's name could be mis transcribed and this is the only one I can find. |
