Do you have their birth references? It will(should!!) show Evas maiden name. |

Thank you both. Al I know about Alan which isn't much is that he is about 10 years older than my dad who was born 1929. Up until a week ago I didn't even know of his existence! |

On a search of Ancestry, there is no birth recorded for Eva Francis Shingleton (at least not on the transcribed index), but there is this birth for Smith:- |

I don't think the name is double barrelled. In the marriage index to William Victor it has her surname as Smith or Shingleton. I think she probably had one of the names but used the other as well - it could have been her first husband's name or someone she lived with. |

Is Singleton-Smith her previous married name, or her maiden name? |

I am trying to find the details of the second wife of my grandfather Eva Frances Singleton Smith. I have tried BMD and Ancestry for both Singleton, Shingleton and Smith entries but no results that match. They married in 1946. William Victor Stanford was a widower and she was a divorcee. Eva previously had a son Alan but don't know anymore about him either other than we think he was b approx 1919. How does anyone find someone with a double barrel name please. |
