this is what i know for definite. sam manning harvey is correct as his name from marriage reg and my grandad remembers seeing him as a child i know his mother was emma harvey and father george smy from baptism reg. his sister sarah was baptised same day even though she was born 4 yrs after sam. Her entry has emma harvey as mother but this time no name entered as father. entries are consecutive in the parish baptism records. |

Manuel is a family surname of mine in the early 1800s. That family is in cornwall. It's possible that he was given his mother's maiden name as a middle name. |

Birth registration wasn't compulsory until 1875, so the birth you are looking for may not actually have been registered |

I want to obtain my great granfathers birth cert so i looked him up in the register. His name was Samuel Manning Harvey born in bosmere district, suffolk in 1848. But i can only find a Samuel Manuel Harvey in the register. Everything else matches correct other than the middle name, I think surely must have been entered wrongly in register is this possible ? Who in mid 19th century suffolk would have used the name manuel? any thoughts kind people ? |
