When my G G Grandmother got married in 1891 she put her age down as 19 when infact she was only 16, my G G Grandfather had his age as 25 yet when he died 9 years later in 1900 his age has been recorded as 32. Is it possible that he could of been older when he married as i have not yet found him on any census (he could of been away as he was a Seaman). The closest i have come is a Henry with a father William who is a captain being born in 1861 which would of made him 30 when he married |

It's possible they may not have lied about their age, as most people were illiterate in those days they wouldn't know maths either, they may not have known their real age. They would have probably told the person writing the census how old they thought they were, & if that persons maths was poor, different dates could emerge. |

Thanks Shirley but this one is still alive in 1901 and mine had died in 1900. Also my G G Grandmother's father was a carman and the marriage cert definately has William Alldridge - Captain and Frederick Trinder - Carman (Lucy's father) |

You say that Henry was your g-g-grandfather yet Lucy doesn't seem to have any Alldridge children in 1901. |

Ozi, they could have just assumed the older child was Adams because she said he was her son. |
