This may be a silly question but is there an 1881 census? as ive bought credits on here and the person i want i find in the 1871 census, he was born after 1861 census and died before the 1891 census.

The 1881 census is FREE........which is why GR can't link you to it.

Look on www.familysearch.org

Or on Ancestry

PLEASE don't but any more credits on GR...........there are many cheaper and better ways to obtain info.............

Hi Catherine, yes there is an 1881 census, it can be viewed free on www.familysearch.org or free on Ancestry as well, dont waste your money buying credits on GR.

Alternatively, post a request on the Records Office Board and someone will do a lookup for you on Ancestry or look for one of the posts on there offering lookups.

If you buy two lots of credits from GR - which I believe is £5 a time - you could buy a months subscription to Ancestry for £9.95 - and get a lot more for your money.

Yes I realise that this is more costly per month than a year subscription.
