The information comes from ancestry - it would be well worth you taking out a sub.

Condition of marriage - on the actual census image will have unmarried, married or widow - not a lot of help to you really as most likely a couple not married will have a married next to her name anyway.

I cannot find a birth or a census record of a Matilda Hulf in Norfolk either. I have noted census mistrans with the name Wulf or Hulp given instead of Hulf but still not having any joy, she must have a different first name somewhere. I was thinking maybe she was married before and has mistakenly used her former married name .....................

When you get a moment, read Tips for Newbies on the tips page - also if we are sure of this unusual name, try a google search for Hulf genealogy.

LOL, thats a turn up, an Ulph married into my Norfolk Horsteads!

What address does it say he was born at? Is it possible that what appears to be Hulf could be read as another name?

Heather

Heather Report 15 Oct 2007 16:41

Where have you tried so far, so we dont duplicate searches. Its a very unusual surname and yet no Matildas are coming up on ancestry. I guess possibly mistranscribed. Where have you seen them together please.
