lads were called up at 18. i believe you could say which service you would like to go in because my bro joined the RAF for his national service |

Basic age was 18yrs but you could be "deferred" if you were training for spesific jobs. You normally did two years but if you opted for the navy you had to do three years.It finished around 1957 but of course there were still national servicemen around until 1960s. |
