Hi

I have found out that my grandad served in the RAF. This information is on his wedding certificate, but it does not give his rank or number. Does anybody know how I can go about finding this information, as my grandad has passed away so I cant ask him.

Thanks
Tracie.

Hi Shirley

I have not tried the CWGC site as he didnt die in the war, but have looked on the National Archives site, and either I am looking in the wrong place or he isnt on there.

Did he have children whilst he was still in the RAF? Childrens birth certs might give his number.

What year and where did he marry? War time?
Could he have married near to where he was stationed?

You could try searching his name on the London Gazette Archives site. If he is mentioned it should give his rank and service number.
