Someone who drives carts, I'd guess. Or maybe owns his own. The census will also say whether he's 'employed' or 'own account', ie works for himself. (Or herself!) |

1871 census results states that my relative, at the age of 16, in the Rank,Profession Occupation column was 'Carter'....any ideas what that is.... |
