Hi Nikki, If you are sure you have the right John Lacey then this census takes you back to the previous generation. As you already know Ada's maiden name I would save your £7 for something you need to know to help you progress. If money is no object then buy the birth cert. Ada is on the 1881 census with both parents so you'll find her father's name there. Have fun - but be warned: this hobby is seriously addictive and there is no known cure lol! Janice |

Mary Orme is head of house - widow and she is Ada's mother, Arthur's mother in law, John's grandmother. So you now have the maiden name of John's mother. janice |

ive just started doing my tree,and i have got ancestry.im still finding my way around,and i think i have found my great grandad, john lacey born 1896 loughborough on the 1901 census it says mary orme aswell,is this his grandmother,and would that be his mums maiden name.and does this mean ive found a new name?? im still learning but would be gratefull for some advice.thankyou nikki x |
