I don't have alot of information - But i am looking for John William Preston born 1879 in Oakham, Leicestershire. I have found his birth and ordered the birth cert, which is due to be dispatched on the 6th of August. However i can't seem to find him on any census's. Is this usual? Many thanks Julie

theres only one coming up on the 1881 but hes aged 4. I think you need to wait first for his birth cert to see his parents names. Shirley

Thanks Shirley, Yes i think that was the only one that i could find.. born 1877 in sileby which is not the right one. I think you are right and hope for more info on the birth cert

Maybe you couldn't find him because you were searching under Leicestershire. Oakham's in Rutland.
