My friend has just found out from her father that she has a sister who emigrated to Canada with her mother and step father about 50-60 years ago. She would like to try and find her, but where would one start - she thinks she went to Toronto - not from Britain but from Denmark! Can anyone help with a web site or tell me how the system works in Canada ? Elaine |

It's very difficult to find such recent records in Canada. There are immigration lists between the years 1925-1935 on the Collectionscanada site, but's that's too early for you. The only thing that I can suggest is to google 411 which has telephone numbers for everyone in Canada. Of course if your friend's sister has married she wouldn't know the name, would she? I don't know what else to suggest. Incidentally I emigrated to Canada 57 years ago. Margaret |

Margaret, Thanks for your information - I'll try Google 411 - who knows, maybe she never married. Elaine |

Have you tried a google search? If not, you might try googling her name along with Denmark and Toronto. Or, her name and Toronto. Or, her name and her mother's name, etc. PS In case they didn't go to Toronto, you might try Ontario and Canada as well. I've done quite a few searches over the years (looking for my English and Irish ancestors) and have actually found information about 10% of the time. It's worth a try at least. |
