I have just received a copy of my 4th Gt grandmother death cert, hoping to find out what her life was like. In the cause of death column it says Unknown no medical attendant Does it just mean there wasnt a doctor called? Ann

It would sound like it. You would think in that case there would have been an inquest or something. Strange. Did she live in a town or in the middle of nowhere?

What date is the cert - before about 1860 I think (?) there was no need for a doctor to certify the death. On my GGFx3 - also Norfolk - all its says for cause is 'Been ill these last 10 months - old age'. (He was 87)

Her death was in 1851. Great Snoring is a fantastic name and such a lovely little village. There is also Little Snoring, which is bigger than Great Snoring!!!! Ann
