Does anyone know how to work out how much an amount of money is worth from 1899 to the value now. kaz |

Hi Kaz, I have tried to work it out this way, I had a relly that got 6d perday pension from the army so that gave him 42d per week to support his family on. so if you take todays pension approx £100. per week. . so 4shillings and 2d must equal approx £100 today does that make any sense to you. Not really that went right over my head. I am trying to work out Effects £272820 0s 2d in 1899. Well the little 2d at the end looks right! The rest must be alot. |

Hello Kaz Have you tried 'Take A Break Currency Converter' - that will direct you to the National Archives site. You can enter in an amount in 'old' money and it will convert it for you. The nearest it will do for you is that in £272,820 in 1900 would be worth £15,567,109.20 today - lotsa dosh! Alice |
