I don't think the search has been working for a while. Rose |

Hi Michelle, It would do you well to search the threads on adoptions. They now contain so much information that they must be the 'adoption bible' for people searching. An added advantage is that you may find out what to do and what not to do so saving yourself time and heartache. Bye Paul |

Hi There are 2 certs available, the first in her birth name and will have your birth mothers details on, the second which is issued after the official adoption has taken place and the child is registered in the Adoption Reg has her new name and her adoptive parents info. Sheila |

English/Welsh birth certs have the name(s) of the birth parent(s). Adoption certs have the names of the adoptive parents. You don't make clear where the birth and adoption took place. Reg |

Hello everyone, I have ad great sucsses with researching my family for which Genes has been a major source of contact for me and I would never be without it. As recently as this weekend I attended a family reunion for a cousin I have now known for 3 years and I am very much apart of their lives and my family and I see them annually.... BUT what I was not prepared for in my family research was that I was looking so far beyond my direct family that I did no see until one of my sisters shared with me this weekend that I have a sister that was adopted out some years ago. I have 2 older sisters and 1 older bothers that I grew up with but apparently I have a sister even before them that not even they knew of until the past couple of years. My eldest sister for her own selfish reasons cared not to share this with me. What I want to know is with such limited information is where do I beging to trace her? Does her birth certificate have her birth mothers name or her adoptive parents (as I am sure it would be the latter otherwise tracing would be so much easier) I have never had to research adoptions in my family and am not sure how to persue this recent turn of events? Any advise would be appreciated, and I am located in Australia. Thanks in advance Michelle |
