my grandfather and uncle were both named john,but always got jackie and we are from tyneside.

My granddad John Turner was always known as Jack as was my g,grandmothers second husband John Macklin but they were both English. Jenny

On researching my mums 1st husband who she called jack i have found that he is welsh and that hes name is really John. checking in a book at an info shop in wales last week on welsh first names , i discovered that anyone called john back then was refered to as Jack or Jac
