Well certainly OTT, just had a look at UKcertificates*.co*.UK and they will send BMD certs for £16-95 each. Another website is BMD-certs*co*uk who have more nerve than old nick at prices ranging from £25-00 to £60-00 for express or one day delivery. Are we all that rich? I certainly look for a bargain in retirement, but these people are not for the likes of us and as with Ancestry, they will reduce their prices if they lose demand, Stuff 'em I say, Derek in France

... and why use agencies like that when you can go direct to the National Archives and have your certs for £7. Obviously not enough people know this or these people wouldn't be in business. Lyn x

Derek they are just money making sites who get the certs from GRO for £7 same us and then pass them on at the bigger price, Takes longer too as they have to wait for them and then post them on to you. Buyer beware!! get only from the GRO Southport site or from local register offices ,those that are willing to provide for family research as some wont!!. Shirley

Never mind if it's spelt right it's flippin' expensive! I'm in the same boat as you and can't really afford to shell out for loads of certificates. When my ship comes in... Which part of France are you? I'm in the Charente. There's a thought - is postage more expensive for overseas delivery?

Anyone who buys certs from anywhere other than the GRO is liable to be over-charged. DO NOT use any site other than the GRO.......or the register office for the appropriate area. Reg
