Hello, We are gradually rolling out a new look Genes Reunited to our members. Over the next few days some members will see the new look version and others will see the ‘normal’ Genes Reunited. We hope you like the new template although please bear with us while we upgrade the message boards. Currently the pages for adding topics or replying on the message boards do look unfinished but we have a new, improved version of the message boards that will be ready in a few days. Also members may find that they need a smaller text size with the new version of Genes than the old one. If you go to the view menu of your browser under ‘text size’ you can amend the size of the text on the website. The Genes Team |

Thanks for letting us know. Does this mean that the reply box for messages won't always be falling off the left hand side of the screen, as this is the one thing that most people don't like. Please reply so we know what's happening. Kath. x |

Bad for the eyes will need bifocals if it stays like this. |

Tip for sorting the text size. If you don't have enough options to re-size the text, or the buttons overlap themselves when you make it larger, just press ctrl+ to zoom in. |

This 'new look' will be accepted/welcomed by me as, at this stage, there are no flashing adverts. I am sure other members will agree we don't want these on the pages we look at. They are off-putting and not necessary. Surely enough money is made by recruiting members to the site without earning more by allowing people to advertise on your site. Joan |

When I go to the Tips Board from the Home Page I get the whole posted message, over 20 pages for a day, rather than just the title, 3 or 4 pages, totally impractical. If this is how the upgrade is going to work, no thank you. |

Mmmm Interesting! Everything is the same as before for me on all the boards. Anyway, all Web-sites change from time to time due to progress. Some things are acceptable, and others aren't. Eventually everything gets resolved and we then forget what it was like before the up-grade. David |

Steve, Just out of interest tried to see what you meant but can't see the problem with my set up. Can you explain a bit further? |

I have the new look set up. If you are on Homepage and scroll down to the bottom to click on choice of page, eg. Tips a click there will take you to within a thread...rather than to titles of threads. Not good. Perhaps that's similar to what Steve was seeing? Gwyn |

Got it. Looks like a bug. Has anyone reported it? |

Perhaps it is intended to work that way, then |

Micheal, i think that when you click on Tips Board from the homepage it gives you a full list of all replies in order they were posted not by thread, so this seems to me to be confusing because you are reading post after post that are all situated around seperate topics??? Thats how it appears to me?? Martin |

The ability to view more than one tree at a time has been removed. I found this REALLY useful when determining matches and also copying between trees when sveral generations down. If you found this option useful too, I suggest you email support to ask that it be put back in. Enough requests might make it happen. Regards, Gail |

Gail, The ability to view two trees was removed nearly twelve months ago, when the tree format was last upgraded, it is not as a result of the recent changes. The way round this is to open your first tree, then with the tree as the active window, pres Ctrl + N to open a new window. Then in the second window, select the tree you wish to view from the 'Other Trees' drop down on the top right of the screen. |
