I have just downloaded PAF Companion file from the Familysearch. I think it is brilliant but to upgrade it is asking me to ring Salt Lake City for a Pin number. As it is only $6.75 to upgrade I would love to go for it but dont want to ring USA. Has anyone any ideas what to do next. By the way it is a programme for printing out trees etc. Thanks Chris |

A week or two ago on this board was an UK address which was recommended by two or three people - I think it came with a health warning about not buying robes by mistake! C |

You can phone America for 1 pence a minute, dial this telediscount number first 0844 861 78 78 I do it all the time to call American customers, it really does work. You must have the full international dialing number for the place you are trying to phone. Take a look at the website just google telediscount. Ron www.genealogyprinters*com |

Is this a better programme for printing out trees than FTM? Anyone got any views? How are you finding it, Chris? - I downloaded the PAF, but didn't go any further - like to hear your opinion. Bee. |

Hi Bee I am still playing with it but the Fan chart is really good, very colourful. The colours are great and makes it much easy to read. Also the Bow is a great way of viewing. On the whole I am really pleased with it. I use PAF and Tribalpages for my tree. The only printout that I dont like so much is the family and individual one (I have never been impressed with it). So I use the one from Tribal which I like a lot. Hope this helps Chris |

Thanks for that, Chris. I'll give it a try, maybe. (Sorry for the delay in answering - had an evening out!) Bee. |

The printed reports (particularly the charts) are one of the best reasons to have a Tribal Pages account, but the PAF Companion is very good too. I particularly like the fan chart when printed as a complete circle. The charts PAF itself prints are one of its weaker features (but the programme is free), but I have found that a good way to get more on the page is to create PDF files of a chart with the paper defined as A3 (or even A2). When actually printed on A4, the reduction results in a decent number of generations of a page. A bit of a fiddle to achieve, but worth the effort. |
