This site is absolutely wonderful and has helped me find a few 'cousins'but I fear it is now becoming a victim of it's own success. When I first joined searches were quite successful but now there are so many names, I find unless I'm really specific (and I usually can't be, if I knew all the details I wouldn't be searching)there are often more than 100 possibles and I can't see them all. By narrowing down the search and putting in place names, there's always the chance of missing someone because they've been entered as living in a district within a town, the county name has been typed first, a hospital has been put as the place of birth or even that the place name has been spelled incorrectly! I know I'm unlucky as I have Smiths, Greens, Shepherds, Johnsons and Williams in my tree as they're such 'popular' names. Can anything be done to improve the search facilities? It would be great if we could enter 'Green, male, Sheffield 1900-1910'for example, and it would bring up all the possibilities. This problem is only going to get worse as the site gets more new members and I think the Webmasters need to tackle the problem soon. Sorry to whinge! GC is brilliant!
