LORNA I have never had EXTRA Junk Mail since I joined GENES,and I think that that is the reason that you cannot email someone directly on a first contact ,to MAKE you go through the site.That way everyone is ignorant of each others email addresses until that person chooses to reply.But a lot of the Geneology sites like Ancestry(dot)com (tho not necessarily that particularly) do pass on emails to other companys for the revenue that it generates.Selling email addresses to large advertisers and survey companys is really big business .So i dont think it is Genes that does this but others .in a chain of our own making. (Just my opinion ,you understand ) Jeff
