Here's one for you all: My father's name was Meninsky,dob 7/08/1918,he changed it to Menin before l was born,my dob 29/12/48.His father Bernard Meninsky came to Liverpool aged 6 weeks in 1891.I am trying to trace his father.The other day l thought l had found him on the ellisisland passenger list,but have been told since that the family used 2 passports for multiple voyages to get the family to USA.I am in contact with (new)family is USA but they don't know anymore about him.Bernard Meninsky was an artist,most sites tell me all l already know,nothing about his background in Ukraine.Have tried various Russian/Jewish sites,but nogo.Any idea's - please!!!! ???? I was struck by your message, as my Great Grandfather is also Ukrainian, from Odessa. He changed his name when he got to the UK, so I will need his original name before I go further back. I am not sure how to do this, as all our family records were destroyed during the war, and some births seem to be unregistered. Any advice/ideas would be welcome. I am particularly interested in your mention of Russian/Jewish sites.
