Does anyone know of one for Scotland. I have been into the Genes/Family History one but you have to buy credit and it uses up a whole load of money

Hi Elaine, If, like me, you've become addicted to this hobby, then I think you just have to accept that at SOME point you're going to have to spend money on it! If you played golf/tennis etc you'd have to pay subscriptions etc, and if you collected stamps/model railways, china plates or whatever you'd spend a small fortune, so I don't think this hobby is any different. A problem DOES arise when you play golf, collect model railways AND investigate the family tree!! If you're like me, you want to do EVERYTHING! (And no, I don't play golf or collect model railways - my interests lie in other directions!)

Hi Elaine, The scotlandspeople site is really great but you will have to pay a minimum of £6.00.That will get you a number of seach listings and about 5 copies of actual documents.I use it all the time.I have not yet found a free one for Scotland.Let me know if you find one.

If it is the 1881 census for scotland, I have it on disc. If you give me the details I will look it up for you. Susan

Thanks for your help folks. I have tried the Scotlandspeople site and it takes ages to scroll through the hundereds of dates/names and costs a fortune into the bargain. I aint found anything as of yet as I keep running out of credits. I will keep looking-and NO no golf anymore or badminton, just this damn computer ;-)
