Hello I had a look at the 1901 using the decoder and if he was 31 in 1901 then he was born about 1870. You could try (55 searches for a fiver) looking at 1837 online for the quarters dec 1869, the 4 quarters 1870 and the first quarter of 1871. One of these ought to show him! I found him on FreeBMD marrying Hanna Dodd in Dec quarter 1894, whether the marriage certificate would give you his parents names so you could trace further back .... On 1881 census via LDS site there's a Hannah Dodd, farmer's daughter born 1871 Don't worry about going mad *whispers* we ALL are! Good luck A

if you have a marriage it will hopefully show a name on the marriage certificate of the fathers, I could not find some of mine either in 1881, but then on 1891 was lucky to find them so that helped! have u tried 1837 online helped me lots, although is not free well worth the time and effort.. janet

PLEASE HELP!!!! I have tried every web site mentioned and still I can't find my GGrandfather Richard Henry Gordon births. I've tried just putting Richard or Henry Gordon. I've researched Hannah Studholme the lady he and his family were visiting in the 1901 census, because Hannah and Richard were born in the same place Black Dyke Cumberland, but reading some of the message from other people that names can be wrong or age, place of birth etc.. I'm wondering if i'll ever find him. All I have is a Marriage and a Death. Should I request a marriage cert and hopefully it will show a father or mother or SOMETHING. PLEASE HELP I'M GOING INSANE HA Sharron
