Crista Thank you, at least it is another lead to follow. Stupidly I hadn't looked at Francis although I had tried all sorts of different names for Clara. Unfortunately, of course, it is made more difficult by the fact thar she was born in 1911 and therefore not on any accessible census. I will keep you posted, thanks for your time. Ann

Ann, Frank was a nickname for Francis, so how about this guy? Francis Ingram 21 born in Somerset Bridge Water, living in Monmouth Newport, occupation Coal Weigher He still appears to be living with his parents and brothers and sisters in 1901. Or there's this guy too: Francis Ingram 12 Newport Mon Glamorganshire Barry Crista

My husband's Mother died in 1958, we have copies of her death cert.in the name of Clara Evelyn Knight, we also have her marriage certificate showing her maiden name as Clara Evelyn Ingram, Father Frank Ingram (deceased) coal miner. Although she was married in Devon (she was in service there) at the age of 20 in Jan 1931, according to the marriage certificate, my husband was always told she grew up (and we thought was born) in the valleys of Wales. (He thinks Caerphilly but may be Merthyr Tydfil). Her birthday was 11 December 1911. I can find a Frank Ingram who was born in Herefords married and living in lodgings in Llanhilleth in the 1901 census, this Frank was a 'coal hewer below'. No wife is present. The GRO searched from 1910 to 1912 for her birth certificate with no luck. There is no trace of her on free BMD or family search. Glamorgam PRO tell me they would only have the same records as the GRO. Any tips as to where I should go from here? Besides from a family tree aspect, my husband would desperately like to know his roots!!! I would appreciate any advice. Ann
