Ive been looking(for what seems an eternity now) for my gr gr grandparents marriage. I know that by 1902 they were married as on my Gr Grandfathers Birth certificate they are down as sharing the same surname and my gr gr Grandmother was put down as Margaret Mitchell, formerly Morgan. I have looked on the census to see if they lived in the house on the birth certificate but they did not. I have searched most of the records on FreeBMD but so far cannot find any record of a marriage between them. How can I find this info. I have no idea of D.O.B or marriage dates or death dates all I have is the names. Can anyone help. My Gr Gr Grandmothers name was Margaret Ann Morgan My Gr Gr Grandfathers name was William Mitchell In 1902 they resided in 68 Leyshon Street, Pontypridd The had a child called James Mitchell and that is as far as i know.

Could it be possible that the names have changed or that they may have ommited a middle name on the birth certificate? I dont know if this is possible but maybe this is why I cannot find them?

I gave up until I found someone on here that had the same James on thier family tree as I have and James Parents are the people who the marriage is that Im looking for. STill waiting to confirm details and to discover whether me and this person is realted. If we are then mystery solved. But if we arent then it is very coincidental that our details including place of residences are exactly the same!! So fingers crossed!

From 1875 onwards, if parents were not married, both should be shown as infomants on any birth certificate. If you have both names in this column, it's a dead give-away! Infomation on this and a lot of other relevant stuff to BMD Certs is available from the Freebmd site. From the BMD home page click on "information". Under General Information click on "Civil Regisration Pages". Under England & Wales click on "Barbara Dixon's BMD". This really is an excellent site and is well worth a look. I have in the past emailed Barbara with a query that wasn't covered and she came back to me very swiftly with an answer. Jill
