Killed in France.

Hello I have a William Wilkinson born1892 in Caistor Lincs he was killed in France I believe 1917 where would I look for details of his death Thanks Sue.............

If it was during the war then try the commonwealth war graves commision site. They might have a record of his death.

Susan, depending on where you live there's a lot of useful info in the PRO at Kew - service records etc; a book called Tracing your Ancestors in the PRO is useful, I use it like a Bible, you should be able to get it from the library.

There are 42 W Wilkinsons listed for the army in 1917 on the cwgc site. Not all of them have full names or parents names, but if you have more details(parents, regiment, month of death, location, etc.) you might be able to pin it down if you are lucky. This one looks like a possibility: WILLIAM HENRY WILKINSON Private 4535 2nd/5th Bn., West Yorkshire Regt. (Prince of Wales's Own) who died on Tuesday 6 February 1917 . Age 25 . Additional Information: Son of Peter and Harriet Wilkinson, of Langrick, nr. Boston Lincs.

Hello Brian The age of death is right his parents were Emma and James Wilkinson of Caistor I don't know what regiment he was in though From Sue........

Sue, Check carefully on CWG as I thought all mine were in the Durham Light, but one of them turned up in WEST Yorkshire, so check all areas Kim
