I have just returned from a day spent at Weston S Mare visiting the West of England GS Family History fair and it was great. Lots of stalls with knowledgeable people all willing to give advice, all very friendly. Stalls from all over too. Also lots to buy, discs, books, leaflets. Lectures to attend. People with fiche that you can search on, or laptops etc. Only £1.50 to go in and I was there for three and a half hours. Now got lots to read and lots of ideas, plus a lead on husband's Great Grandfather. No help with 1837online and we still haven't solved that problem, although I am sure it is sonething very minor. I am fed up with looking at the page that says "you have been directed to this page because..." But I had 3 replies, all with good tips which I now intend trying -only just got in. (diverted via M&S Cribbs Causeway, hence the delay!!) But, if you see a Family History Fair advertised, do go, you will be amazed! Ann

Ann, Thanks for that, I thought they only covered the local areas so have never attended. There is one near here soon, also Reading Records office is having an open day mid Sept, so I wll definately attend from now on. Kim Sandhurst
