I find this site very useful. I wonder if anyone can tell me if it either possible to forward a saved page to someone OR copy and paste the information into an e-mail. I have not been able to do either forward or copy and paste so have printed out the information I have saved to send by snail mail to relatives who wanted to see the information.

Easy - you have the option to save the results in th Decoder to a CSV (comma separated variable), HTML, Gedcom or Excel format. Notepad will open a CSV file without a problem and just about everyone has Notepad - so I'd save your results as CSV. Graham

If you open the results in a spreadsheet then you can always copy and paste into a message - can't remember if you are best with a RTF or HTML message but just try both. Same probably applies to results exported to a HTML file. I always export to EXCEL, GEDCOM and HTML before closing the decoder program. Martin

Thanks Graham, I have been saving all of my information to CSV and I did find the information under note pad BUT when I attach a particular Surname to an e-mail and check to see if anything will come up in my e-mail before I send it - nothing will. I can, however, attach the entire 1901 Decoder but then I am sending information on surnames unrelated to the person I am e-mailing and also due to privacy would prefer to only send relevant names. I hope this makes some sense to you? Reading directions is not my thing (lol) so I hope you may be able to further help me. Thanks

Open the CSV file in Notepad (better if you have EXCEL or another spreadsheet). Drag the mouse across the lines you want and mark them i.e. hold the left button down. Move the mouse over the marked area and right click. Select COPY. Go to you EMail. Right click and select PASTE. Like this "Lily","BRADLEY",83964528,29977928,8,"8",1893,"Lancs Upholland","Upholland","Lancs","","N/A","N/A" Forget, copy the top line header line and paste before the above line "Forenames","Lastname","Page ID","Person ID","Age","PRO Age","Year Born","Where Born","Census Place","Census County","Occupation","Piece RG13/","Folio" MB

I want to thank Martin and Graham for trying to help me. I was not able to get into the site yesterday (too busy according to the server). The directions did make sense, however, I apparently have done something wrong. I went to NOTEPAD and opened it and there is nothing for 1901 Decoder - I could not even find anything with CSV and I opened every file under Notepad. So then I started looking at everything and found 1901 Decoder until "Program Files" with the list of surnames I have saved in the past. (I was quite excited) until I click on a surname to open it and got this message WINDOWS CANOT FIND DOWNLOADED.EXEC This program is needed for opening files of type "CSV File" Have no idea what I am supposed to do - so perhaps rather than cause either of you further frustration I will just continue to print the stuff and send it by snail mail. Martin - believe it or not - I do know how to copy and paste (lol) but as you know you cannot copy and paste anything from the original Decoder. (I even tried high lighting everything and using Control V and then opening another page and using Control C) but it wouldn't work. I found some other names yesterday and decided to save this new group on Excell. Well it took - but then when I went back to load the file - only CSV will drop down - so I have no idea where Excell is with my information. Somewhere in computer heaven I guess with all the rest of the information I have lost over the years!
