Good tip indeed - just ordered the one I need online at a cost of only £7. Thanks again Julie!

Many thanks Julie. I didn't realise I could order by phone from the Family Records Centre - I thought it was a case of turn up in person or pay the £20 odd for a copy from South port. I am off to the site to check this.

Hi Georgina, Do you mean the Family Records Centre? I am going on the 30th July and would be happy to help. However, if you can't wait that long you could order the certificate by post, fax or e-mail although it costs £8.50. The details are on their web site. This takes about 7-8 days to arrive. You could also order from the local registry office for the area given in the index. I believe this is a cheaper way of doing it and will arrive quicker. Hope this is of some help. Julie

I recently went down to the Family History Centre in London and got some great certificates to further my research. However, am now onto the next stage, but travel tickets to London are expensive. Is anyone willing to order a certificate at the FHC if they are are off there themselves. I have the GRO index needed so it wouldn't be a search. And of course the £7 reimbursement for the copy would be forth coming. Cheaper than ordering by phone!
