Has anyone made their own tree into a website? I would be interested in making one but do not know where to start. Does anyone have any help, advice or ideas? Thanks Alison

Alison Hane a look at www.myfamily.com - this site will allow you set up your tree, add comments, photographs etc - is this what you were looking for? Jane - Leeds

As someone has suggested the MyFamily site is good. You just export your GEDCOM and the tree is made visible - more effectively than Genes Connected system but it is more expensive. You can also save pictures and other files - quite a useful way of sharing with others interested in your family. It is all password protected i.e. you control who sees the information. Family Tree programs like LEGACY will export into HTML format. This is a good way of passing on a copy to someone as you can then copy to a CD-ROM. There are also other programs around that will convert a GEDCOM into a series of WWW pages. If you look at some online family trees then you will probably see the name of the program used somewhere on the page. Martin Martin

Alison, We have just started a web site through "GreatFamily" it cost 29 dollars, but there is a conversion to pounds, I think it worked out about 19 pounds, it is really user friendly, and you can do individual photo's or even a gallery. The gedcom transfers immediately and it looks quite good aswell, also you are in full control of what gets entered on the site. Good luck with what ever you choose, just think of it as your legacy!
