With so many questions being repeated would it not be a good idea to have an encyclopedia of standard information attached to this site. For example: The census dates; web address's rather than links for the 1881,1891 and 1901 censuses. Contact details for getting certificates etc. Just a thought. Gary |

A lot of this stuff is already around: click on General Info or Links on the left. Two big problems with the Links page: (1) it describes 1837online as the "1837 census" (2) it's got GENUKI right at the bottom when it should be right at the top The GENUKI link goes straight to a page with "Getting started in genealogy" and "Frequently Asked Questions", and the rest of the site is a massive encyclopedia for UK and Irish genealogy. People who don't find the info where it is, probably still won't find it if you duplicate it all somewhere else. As a rule, boards with FAQs still get loads of questions that are answered in the FAQ |
