I paid £10 to use 1901 census last night but I only managed to get a few names when I clicked onto my account it told me that £5 was just to start before getting any info is that right? Sue. |

If it's the UK government website then that's not correct. The £10.00 payment gives you the ability to view pages once you have done a search - the page view is the best to go for although costing more at 75p - but you will get the complete household as well. Trouble is if you don't know the names of the family it could become a costly affair. Far better to download the 1901 census decoder and search for the surname only and load the results of the searches into the decoder - then use the decoder to group all the households together - all for free. £5 is the minimum payment and the chrges are 50p per transcript or 75p per original return page. When you pay clicking on "My account" should show how much you are in credit and this will reduce as you look at chargeable items. |
