Hi Florence I know the area you are talking about, quite well. The Oldbury Road you and others were talking about is on the west side of Birmingham. It is near to the canal and Railway line which runs from Birmingham to Wolverhampton. Very near to the heart of the Black Country. Before the formation of The West Midlands, Birmingham was in Warwickshire, Wolverhampton in Staffordshire and Dudley in Worcestershire so it can be quite confusing looking for records. Hope this is of interest even if others have actually solved the problem for you! |

Florence, I have checked my A-Zs and there is no Oldbury Road in Staffs, but it shows up in Warley and West Bromich, both of which are slightly south of Walsall. Hope this helps, Liz STS |

Florence, There's an Oldbury Road in Birmingham and one in Dudley. Go to www.multimap(.)com and search on Oldbury Road for all the options. Crista |

Hi, hope someone out there can help. G Grandma born 1852. 1882 Census says place of birth West Birmingham, Stafford. 1901 Census says place of birth Oldbury Road, Haffordshire., (assume this should be Staffordshire) bmd site gives two identical names for birth in Mar 1852 one in Walsall the other in Stoke.Does Oldbury Road ring any bells with anyone, don't know the Birmingham area. Before I send for certs any info. or comments would be appreciated. Thanks, Florence |
