Can anyone advise on the best way to find a Scottish birth ? I haven't much to go on as I don't know whereabouts in Scotland he was born, only that he was born in and his name was Charles MURRAY born in 1824.

Hi The Scotland's People site is the one you need. It's not free unfortunately, you have to buy credits, minimum 30 for £6.00, but it's well worth it for Scottish birth, marriages and deaths.Good luck Lynne
