Hi I had a look at the IGI and there is a Walter Bennett marrying a Mary Ellen Clarke at St Phillips, Sheffield on 26th May 1874. His age was given as 22 and hers was given as 29 - could this be them? Only other suugestion is to try 1871 and 1961 census returns. Good luck or even the 1861 census! Jane - Leeds |

I am having problems with the following. Can anybody help. Lucy Bennett born 1881/2 in Hoyland Common Barnsley.Daughter of Walter Bennett and Mary Ellen (maiden name unknown) Family at 7 Ebenezer Square,Worsborough,Barnsley on 1891 census. I can find the family on the 1881 census as well and all her brothers and sisters pre 1901. I cannot find any baptism records for any of the children or any record of the parents marriage. I spent a frustrating day in Barnsley Archives at the library with no luck and I am now stuck as to where to go next. Any ideas recieved with thanks Stephen |
