Found this on a site: HARDY m English Pronounced: HAR-dee From a Norman surname which meant "brave, hardy" in Germanic. George

Thank you, funnily enough I have found Harday spelt Hardy on LDS, but spelt Harday both times on marriage certificate. There is onyl one Hardy COusins so it must be him. Thank you.

Hi Donna I havn't heard of the name "Harday" ,but my great great grandfather's first name was "Smith". So maybe there was a fashion/tradtion to use surnames as Christian names? It certainly happens nowadays. Regards Maxine

Can't help, but would like to add that I thought Harley was a recent addition to names but have found it back in 1866 so keep an open mind Shelli

Just received my g grandfathers marriage certificate and my g grandmas dad was called Harday Cousins? Cannot find this name in any databases that I have so far tried, any first name specialists out there? Donna
