Has anyone discovered any co-incidences regarding their ancestors. I find myself living in a house I moved into 8 months ago, before I started researching my family history, being only 1/2 a mile from where my great uncle, who I did not know existed, lived in a gamekeepers cottage. My house is built in a cleared wood that used to belong to the farm he worked on! Regards Gary

Hi Gary This has happened to me alot. I moved to Wem in Shropshire - out of the blue just because I liked it (I had been living in Stoke) - I then found out that My Great Aunt had married and moved there about 70 years previously there were no other family connections with the place. Also I now live in Stafford, about a mile from where my Worthington Great great Grandfather and his family came from, I've lived here 3 years, and found this out last month - I had always thought they had come from Stoke. They seem to have a way to draw us back!!! Regards Maxine

Gary, Something similar happened to me. Before i started looking into my family history, I had been working for a company in Bolton, only to discover after I'd left, that my g,g, grandfather had lived on the street behind my workplace - its a small world!. Lindsay, Bolton.

Traced my grandmother's family to Whitby.(Gran was born in 1878). Went there for the first time in March and booked into the only hotel I could find on the web which welcomed dogs. 2 months later, traced my gran's siblings and discovered some living relatives. Went to Whitby to meet them . Booked in the same hotel again only to find that their parents (my 2nd cousins) used to own the place.

I am tracing my husband's family history and in June we went to Broadclyst, Devon (where his grandfather was born) to further the research. We stayed at a farm called Jarvis Hayes in Broadclyst and found out lots more about the family from local records etc. On returning home, I checked with the 1891 census only to find that his great grandmother's family lived in one of the two farm cottages on Jarvis Hayes farm! They certainly do have a way of drawing us back! Sue at Langley Vale Epsom SRY

I live in Sydney, Australia. We emigrated in 1956. Since researching my family tree I have found that I went to the school attached to the church where my g-g-grandfather was buried in Leeds, Yorks. Last year I went to the UK and thought I would look for his grave but most of the church was pulled down and all the graves have been removed. Shame. Val, Sydney, Australia.

Just thought I'd bring 'Spooky' to the fore, as Maxine says she can't find the original.
