Tony There are several Deverills in Wiltshire. Longbridge Deverill, Brixton Deverill, Monkton Deverill, Kingston Deverill, Hill Deverill, which may be the one you want. I am looking at the Ordnance Survey map & Hill Deverill may just be a hamlet, it looks quite small. These villages are south of Warminster. There are also a lot of places with Hill in the name in the area, but I cannot see a Wilts Hill. Does Wilts refer simply to the county? Let me know if you need more local info. Pat Frome, Somerset

Try old-maps.co. uk, they have some amazing maps and aerial photographs on there to view for free. Helped me find out where my Gt grandfather lived.

Hi Tony I couldn't find this place in my atlas so I went to Google and searched for WILTS HILL. Using the first connection that appeared (http://www(.)4trudy(.)co.uk/census/a2z(.)php?letter=je) I have found some sort of census for a Jeffreys family. Its says'Wilts Hill, Deverill (not in atlas either) and looks like this is in Wiltshire. Any good ? Jeannie

Can anyone help ? My Greatgrandfather was born in 1841/2 in somewhere called "Wilts Hill" but I can't find out exactly where that is or was. According to the 1901 census he was living in Monmouthshire and working as a miner, and his children were all born in Monmouthshire, so I am assuming that is somewhere in Wales. Any help would be very much appreciated. Tony
