We d/loaded basic option from the web. Be warned though it takes about 90 mins depending on speed of your PC. It's quite a complicated prog. but very good in regards what it does. Some items are missing this is to encourage you to buy the deluxe version. I have a basic prog whic I use then gedcom it to legacy for the wizzy bits. Worth a try though. John

Hi, The deluxe version cost about £20 to £30.I think. You won't need it really esp. to start with. The ordinary version is good enough till you get used to it. It does loads of things and takes a while to get used to, as most do. Gedcom is a file that is common to Family trees. You will have one on Legacy. What it is used for is to put your family tree on from say Legacy and then transfer to GC. It saves typing it all again. Takes about 2 mins to do all that. (Aren't computers wonderful) My simple one is 'Family Tree' I think it cost £10. You can get a dearer version but that just contains a book telling you how to use it, which with a bit of practice you won't need. I then upload it's gedcom to Legacy. If I were you I would go for Legacy and try it, after all it's free. Give it a couple of days to play with and I think you will enjoy. Have a go and a little patience and I think you will find it ok. It has tips and help. Let me know how you get on. John

To John, I attempted to download Legacy last night and half way through I was cut off so I will give it a go again today.I have had a couple of attachments sent to me by a friend I noticed it says at the bottom of the page Legacy. The information was Family group record of Harry Dixon, is that how it works it sorts your family out and then you can print it Many thanks Sue..............

It does that and loads more. You can print off individuals, family groups etc. That's why I say it looks complicated at first as it can do so much. I suggest when you have d/loaded it you put in your name, parents and g/parents and then play around with it till you get the hang of it. John

I also tried using the free download from Legacy, but found it over-complicated. I now use the LDS PAF5 and although it is basic, I find it a lot easier to use. Maggy, West Yorkshire
