Alison, I have done some searching on that website I recommended and I can not find any Frederick Chipperton, sorry. Maybe if you could find further information ie, what ship he came to Australia on, where it landed, or even if he was buried in a Victoria country town and perhaps not Melbourne. I know your frustation, Im going through the same thing trying to find a relative in England. I am unaware of any other website where you can find death certificates online. Thanks Jenny for the name of this site. However I wonder if there is a site with the actual bdm index. My gr gr grandfather left his family in Portsmouth to start a new life around Victoria in 1854 and I don't think he ever returned. Is it possible to search for a death certificate on line? Many thanks.

I wondered if anyone knew if there was any census data for Melbourne between 1860 and 1894. I want to trace the whereabouts of my Greatgrandfather Frederick J Chipperton and his wife Mary and son Herbert. Frederick (Fred) dies in 1894 and then his wife and child returned home. I believe he is buried in a cemetry in Melbourne. Thanks for your help Alison
