Thanks for looking Diedre - sorry I didn't get back to you in time. Just in case you visit again the rest of the family are as follows: James BUTLER b. 1803 Bexley Catherine BUTLER b. 1805 Bexley Richard BUTLER b. 1807 Bexley William BUTLER b. 16-Feb-1810 Bexley Edward BUTLER b. 31-Jan-1812 Bexley George BUTLER b. 1814 Bexley Maria BUTLER b. 1816 Bexley Richard BUTLER b. 1820 Bexley I assumed that the wedding also took place in Bexley about 1801/2. Anyway thanks for looking and for the suggestions as well - I had already considered the IGI entries, but not convinced that they are the ones. Guess I'll have to try something else. Graham

Hi Graham, Sorry - no luck on parish registers. I had to assume possible years of marriage as you didn't come back to me with age of eldest child etc. Looked on both registers for Bexley and of Crayford (which is close by) 1790 onwards. IGI individual record shows marriage of a John Butler to Elizabeth Pearson on 26 Dec 1791 in Snodland Kent, England (batch no. 7431822) also a John Butler to Elizabeth Hoppin 27 Jun 1790, Feltham, London (film No. 457126) don't know if either of these could be yours??

Hi Graham, Just to narrow the field...have you any idea when the marriage took place? Are the children Edward, Maria, George, Catherine, William, and two Richards? Dierdre X

Hi Diedre Well if you wouldn't mind - my 3x g grandfather Edward BUTLER was born in Bexley 31-Jan-1812 - parents given as John BUTLER & Elizabeth. His brothers/sisters are also born in Bexley - so I'm trying to trace the marriage of my 3x g grandfather John BUTLER & ELizabeth, and Bexley is the logical place to start. If you can get her maiden name and any other information that would be most helpful. Many thanks, and good luck. Graham

Hi Graham, I live in Bexleyheath, Kent (Borough of Bexley). Never done a local look-up before but will willingly visit our central library for you, I believe they have a good family records centre. Dierdre X
