Post-1901 genealogy...How???

There might be a really obvious answer to my query...but what ways can you research families post-1901? The Kelly's directories are useful but only give the home-owner. I tend to use the census as my starting point re: relationships, ages, finding new connections etc... Am a bit stuck on how you research family from the 20th Century. Anyone got some tips?? |

I use the following: Indexes like FreeBmd, Parish registers, Wills, adverts in newspapers, electoral roll,trade directories,school records,talk to family. I can't think of anything else at the moment. I'm sure other members can provide more suggestions. |

Does the electoral roll provide similiar info as to the census? Where do I find them...are they held in the record offices of the area concerned? |

I believe the electoral roll names those in the house who were of voting age and can be found in almost all records offices. George |

I suppose that does make sense. I seem to have got stuck in the pattern of looking up census info for most of my research to date...it's only now that I want to find out what happened to some of the children that I suddenly realised I didn't know what to do next! Thanks George. Ali |

What is St Catherine's index??? I am also trying to find people after 1901 but can't just go to librarys and stuff cos I live in Austria now and all my family come from England - it's not just a quick trip into town!! Please let me know about this index and where I can find it. Thanks. |
