I am very impressed with all you clever and helpful people.I need to know when my grandfather died, his name was Roger Kenny, wife Marian,Maryann, Mary, living in Collingwood street,Liverpoolin 1881.aged 25.supposed to have died young? I can not find my mothers birth cert. She was brought up in Liverpool. Born in 1890,orphaned about 1902 when her mother died.I have tried Liverpool registrars, they will not look unless you have the sub.dist.exact address,e.t.c.Any suggestions please.

I looked at the 1901 census online (PRO). There is a Mary Kenny aged 42 with daughter Agnes 12 in Liverpool. If this is your Mother then have a look at 2nd Q 1888 through to 1889 Birth registrations (if my maths are correct)as the census was taken on 31 March 1901. No suitable Roger listed but the three that are, are all from Ireland. If this is your family if you purchase the enumerator copy you will see if Mary is listed as a widow - this also might help tighten the dates. If you know what religion the family were you could also look at Parish records for the 'local' church for Collingwood Street. Good hunting.

Dear Maureen,Sandra,Christa, thanks for your replies. My mother was Hannah Kenny, but Kelly on her baptismal which I beleive was a church mistake. Her mother was nee Kelly. Her own marriage to my father in Liv. was also entered by the church register as Anna(latin) Kelly, dau. of Anna and Roger Kelly, nee Kenny. The Registrar cert. says Anna and Roger Kenny, nee Kelly.I found both Kelly and Kenny families in the same street,Collingwood St.Mary Kelly had married Roger Kenny in 1881,and stayed in the street a few doors away.I found Mary Kelly was baptised as Marian(latin) so would have been Mary Ann.
