Margaret What was your Mother's first name? By the way, on the 1881 census, you can look at the "neighbours" and often you will find that the newly married couples will be living near a set of parents. For instance, a possibility for you to consider in the future when you have more info....your Roger and Mary are in 6 Court 11 House and in 6 Court 14 House, are Patrick and Ellen Kenny born Ireland and sons Patrick age 21 and John age 17. It is JUST possible that Roger is the eldest son. Sue

Dear Catherine, Thanks for such a swift response. My mother went to live with an aunt,I only know her surname was White,in Scotland Rd,there were a few children that my mother had to mind,it is a complicated family. My parents were really secretive, never named names.I don,t know what the mystery was,but if I could find her birth cert.or her fathers death,it would be great. Thanks a lot. Margaret.

Hi Margaret Have you tried looking at the 1901 census as on it, it lists institutions of which I am sure an orphange would have been included under that. catherine
