I found my great grandparents on CWGC who were killed in a shelter in Portsmouth. If you click on the names it will usually tell you their next of kin (parents / any children) and where they were living at the time.

I have just discovered that the commonwealth war graves site also has a list of all civilians killed in enemy action in w w 2.Enter a surname and where it says "force" click on "civilian".
