If someone died when travelling from Uk to USA (or vice versa), were would the registration be carried out (time I'm interested in is around 1890)

If you register at the national archivist web site that went online yesterday you will ne able to search the deaths at sea index. It is free to do a search but costs to see the actual page. George

Thanks - the person does not seem to be there. Never mind, keep on looking

David, The first time I tried searching the site it came up with nothing. I then went into Deaths for a certain period and was successful. Don't forget that the date of registration could have been ages after the actual death. If you do find anything, I should be interested to know whether you are able to print the page. Everytime I try my PC crashes! Jill

Had another look, realised it only goes up to 1890, my missing person died between 1893 and 1900

Tracey, The images on the National Archivist site are actual scanned images of the originals.
