Norman Sorry - can you get your money back and buy them from S&N or Stepping Stones? At least you know their CDs work. :-) Vera

Vera thanks for your suggestion but I already have Adobe Acrobat otherwise I would not have been able to read the 1891 census disc. Norman

Norman As I mentioned in my message you can download the Adobe Acrobat Reader from www[.]adobe[.]com Vera

Thanks for the response but still no go. I have no problem accessing the 1880 census on Family Search. I also have the Lancashire 1891 census on discs which I also have no problem accessing. Ditto with the 1841 Lancashire census. These last two are stand alone programs that auto run and have a starting menu. The Mycensus cds piggyback on a photo program. I have Adobe Photo Deluxe and this brings up the opening page which is a description of the district. I should then be able to bring up the remaining pages with the names on them but can't find a way to do this. The Canadian suppliers just tell me they use "My Photo Centre" and just move from one photo to the next. They say some of their customers use Adobe so how can I? Norman

Norman What does it say on the box under SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS? I have the S&N Lancs 1891 Census and it says on there that you need Adobe Acrobat which can be downloaded from www(.)adobe(.)com This is a reader as mentioned above, so perhaps you do not have it installed on your PC already. I am sure that others will let you have more details and be able to make it clearer for you. Yours Vera Manchester

Norman, I am no computer expert but when I got mine I had no problems. I must already have something on my computer that allows me to view the discs. Thats no help to you though...Hope you manage to sort something out. Allie

Hi Norman I don't have the CDs, but I would suspect that you would need a viewer like you need for the 1881 census. If there is not an obviuos one to install on your CDs(I would have thought they should be- something like instal or setup.exe), then I would ask the people you have purchased your disks from if they have one for you to download. If its not this then I'm stuck! Regards Maxine

In view of the favourable comments on the Tip Board I have bought the Shropshire Cds from Mycensus but cannot get them to work. A reply from them to my query was of no help. The cds don't auto run so you bring them up on My Computer when they appear as dozens of mini programs on Adobe Photo Deluxe. Each of these just gives the header information but I cannot access any names. Can the people who have used these discs tell me how they managed it? Otherwise I shall have to wait until my son comes home this weekend to sort it out for me.
