I had a brainwave. I looked up all the 11-year-old Florences born in Darlington. There were only 13. At the first try I then found the family indexed by Ancestry as Clought - because of the C initial for the middle name of William it had been misread, although it was clear enough on the original once you understood the handwriting. The entries are as follows: Address 28 Japan Street, Cockerton, Darlington; William C Wright, 48, Painter and Grainer, born Stockton; Dorothy Wright, 40(?), born Yarm; William C S Wright, 22, Striker (occupation noted over in pencil as Smith), born Yarm; John Wright, 16, Engine Cleaner, born Bishop Auckland; Florence Wright, 11, Scholar, born Darlington; Mary G Wright, 9, Scholar, born Darlington; Herbert L Wright, 7, Scholar, born Darlington. The eldest son married an ancestor of mine in 1893 so they should be there somewhere unless they were temporarily out of the country. George

I've tried four of the five names without success. Are you sure they haven't emigrated?
